Which one is supposed to be the man? Or are they both men? Who cropped this shit? It makes no sense as is. The original image is plenty wholesome, I just have no clue what the added text is supposed to imply contextually.
No need to be so condescending. I know my close friends and family would care. And I wouldn’t do it just for the sake of flexing but also to work towards my hours for a PPL. Very few people get that opportunity cause of how expensive flying is.
Oh I know. Believe me, I know. I was 18 when I earned my private pilot's license, skipped a day of college my Freshman year to take a checkride. That weekend, the most intense argument I've ever seen in my family broke out (this should be an indication of how chill my family is): Which grandmother was going to get the first airplane ride. Before things actually heated up, I made a command decision as PIC: The Cessna 172 I flew is equipped with four seats, so BOTH grandmothers are going on the first airplane ride.
3 weeks later, I was out of people who wanted to go on airplane rides. People get tired of hearing you talk about it fairly quick. It's just how it goes.
The meme is already calling men simple, but you absolutely still have to perform the required mental gymnastics to find a sexist angle to criticize here?
See I presumed the exact opposite, that it was the man sending the pic. So since no one actually knows which person is supposed to be the man, again we ask, what does this meme have to do with gender?
Obviously I disagree, but since you didnt make an argument, I don't feel the need to justify my belief either. Read it again, they could both be men for all we know. Actually all three options are equally likely imo. Which is why it needs more context to make any sense.
Yes it sure is difficult to see the context here. So very difficult.
Does it frustrate you that two men had this 'conversation'? Would the meme have been better if it said women? Would your feelings have remained intact?
Personally I read this as saying that the blue messages could be coming from a woman instead of a man like the text in the picture implies but apparently most people didn't read it like this

I’d love to do this flying private one day in a Cessna 172 or similar. That’d be the greatest flex ever lol

Didn't read condescending to me, I'm pretty sure it's a general "you", referring to their own experience, possibly coming from similar dreams.

You know they let women fly planes now too right?
ozymandias@sh.itjust.works · 53 pts · 118d
hey, what do you call a woman flying a plane?
::: spoiler answer a pilot, you sexist POS :::
DisgruntledGorillaGang@reddthat.com · 4 pts · 117d
How am I a sexist POS for correctly guessing the answer?
ozymandias@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 117d
well when telling said joke you interrupt the subject with the punchline before they answer.
you can also replace the question with any oppressed group and any profession.
e.g. What do you call a black man orbiting the moon in a spaceship?
captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 117d
Victor Glover, though he didn't enter orbit.

squaresinger@lemmy.world · -17 pts · 118d
It's not sexist if it's against men.
Soulphite@reddthat.com · 16 pts · 117d
Yeah, men are supposed to be tough and not have feelings whatsoever. Duh!
captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 117d
Men are allowed two feelings: Fine and angry.
cash@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 117d
Really chomping at the bit to find something to be offended at here. Have a sandwich or something.
punchmesan@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 116d
Not that it matters or anyone cares, but just so you know the expression is "champing" at the bit. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/champing

You are so oppressed.
squaresinger@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 117d
Ah, so making fun of women is fine if you don't do it to oppress them? Mhm.
x00z@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 116d
Are these people making fun of women in the room with us?
a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 116d
You have a means to stop society from oppressing people based on gender? And you've kept it to yourself?

They let women on planes now too. What in the world does this meme have to do with gender?
DisgruntledGorillaGang@reddthat.com · 3 pts · 117d
Presumably its a man texting excited about his plane, and presumably nobody else would care.
PapaStevesy@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 117d

That makes less sense.

They could also both be women, which IMO is the funniest scenario.
DisgruntledGorillaGang@reddthat.com · 1 pts · 116d
That's not as funny though. Why would you intentionally read it in the least funny way possible? So you can be upset?
Jax@sh.itjust.works · 0 pts · 116d
