There's a place just like that in the city I grew up and as really small child I had to wait for the bus there with my mom very early in the morning (5/6 am). Some years later I passed by and it gave chills but I didn't recognized the place. That night I had a terrível nightmare that my mom got chained to them and the bus doors cut my hands, and I wake up remembering it. After that, every time I remember that place and chains my heart start pumping. I don't know if something happened there, but maybe it had and my children brain just don't registered it.
I don't have a story like that, but I've often wondered whether my various neuroses and fears were because of something that happened or whether they were just invented in my head. I don't know about your memory, but for me, most likely it was the latter. Hopefully you're well.
