Unpopular opinion, but this movie didn't live up to the hype for me. Some incredible creature design, but the story just felt so shallow. Way more style than substance :/

Upvoted for a truly unpopular opinion. Could be the effort of having to read it made people rate it more highly than it deserved. I don't remember the story seeming thin but it's been 15 years since I've seen it.

I watched it a few years after release with zero expectations, just a general recommendation by a family member and I thought it was it was a great experience. Although I can sort of agree with the more style than substance arguement.
