Both resources support English search, have well seeded netflix content and English audio tracks are always provided for English language content (just set your player to default to english). Rutracker especially has lots of niche/older content you simply won't find on streaming platforms. Mazepa has a lot less content (in context of niche/older productions), but its also less on the radar and netflix content is generally well covered.
I don't know about North America, but in Europe you should be able to use both services via torrent streaming for most netflix content. Might even work in North America.
You'll need to register on both, but it's not difficult with a webpage translator. There is a solid number of english language users on rutracker.

I thought the Dredd remake was really good and I normally do not like American comic book movies. I would even argue the remake felt a bit more realistic than the original (which was decent, but not great).
For some reason I strongly disliked Alien: Earth (managed about 3.5 episodes). There are productions that don't grab me or aren't made for me; but for some reason I found AE to be aggressively bad and annoying.
The Disney style kids in adult bodies concept is a joke. In my eyes, adding something like that is the easiest way to ruin your production. I don't want to watch such shit, I am not a 15 year old teen. I wasn't even interested in such concepts when I was 15.
The Mark Zuckerburg fellow was comically unrealistic. This is not how you do satire of oligarchy. One almost starts to wonder if the lame satire of oligarchy is a structured part of American internal propaganda policies (I don't actually believe this, the directors/producers just don't give a shit and go with whatever). Compare the Zuckerberg character to Mark Ruffalo's Kenneth Marshall character in Mickey 17, neither characters were subtle in their use of satire, but Mickey 17 never took itself seriously, it's almost like a magical realism production in a sci-fi exterior. AE does take itself very seriously.
The behavior and narrative design of the characters was just off-putting. The annoying, inappropriate humour, plot armor use and just boring, stereotypical "epic streaming service sci-fi show" characters.
I actually don't mind "nostalgia bait", but it needs to be done well. I gave up on the beginning of the 3rd episode, but based on recommendations I watched the 5th episode "In Space, No One..." and I thought it was shit. It did not have that Alien feeling of dread and desire for survival. It was very generic, sort of like some LLM output that gets the surface elements right, but can miss the point of a given work/concept.
When it comes to sci-fi and horror, I am not picky. I thought the theatrical versions of Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection and Prometheus were decent. The Director's cut versions (Chaos Edition fanedit for Prometheus) are a lot better, but the OG releases were entertaining sci-fi horror experiences. Not to mention that I will watch almost any found footage movie there is.
But that doesn't mean I am going tolerate something like Alien: Earth that feels like a tasteless, odorless synthetic product in very eye catching and opulent Alien packaging.
There was also a lot less on demand content / media / entertainment available back then. There were no social networks, no mass market smartphones, the internet itself was extremely primitive by modern standards, gaming was a lot more niche.
I was never a huge Star Wars fan, but I of course saw the prequel trilogy in theatres because it was a big deal back then.
I haven't seen any of the subsequent Star Wars movies except for Rogue One, which I enjoyed a lot. From what I've heard most of the new Star Wars fare is aimed at fans and doesn't really push beyond the barrier of the Star Wars concept.
I watched it a few years after release with zero expectations, just a general recommendation by a family member and I thought it was it was a great experience. Although I can sort of agree with the more style than substance arguement.
Angel's Egg is a crazy experience, I find it helps to get in a certain state of mind when re-watching it.
While I generally dislike most anime, productions like Angels's Egg, Perfect Blue, Metropolis or Megazone 23 are IMO a whole step up compared to many live action movies that go for a similar feel.

There is simply too much going on in The Silmarillion to cover it in a single movie or even a trilogy.

The Fox and the Hound, most of the movie is relatively typical Disney fare, but the ending had its "PG" moments.
All Dogs go to Heaven, this production felt different compared to other animated movies when I watched it as a kid.
