Welcome to today: a cat has barfed on the sofa. Specifically a white bit.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 96d (3 replies)

of course

Catfish@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 96d (2 replies)

And it's wool so I can't use oxy spray. WTF do they put colorants in pet food anyway?! Grump

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 96d (1 reply)

I use Bissel or Dr Beckmans pet cleaning solution. Works well.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 95d

Both appear unsuitable for animal fibre fabrics. I messed up my silk dressing wrap by forgetting such before, it has a really weird texture now.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 96d (1 reply)

House to myself this morning, so I stayed in bed until I could no longer stand it. It was freaking wonderful.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 96d

Love those days.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 95d (3 replies)

The glorious day continues!! A lovely walk in the sunshine with cute doggo sightings, finally tried the bakery/pie outlet around the corner and it was cheap AND delicious (including some frozen party pies for this weekend), champagne is chilling in the fridge and I am sah ready for the EDC weekend!!

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 95d (2 replies)

sounds wonderful

and I might go for a walk too 🐱

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d (1 reply)

Don't push yourself too much, but it's lovely out there!

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d

Just the close beach , only a few minutes away 🙂

Pilk@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 96d (2 replies)

It's obviously impossible not to be biased, but Delta absolutely nailed it this morning at Eurovision. I think only Denmark got close to her vocal skills. It's a tough field but I'm all in on a podium finish for Australia.

SituationCake@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 96d (1 reply)

The performance was solid, stage and costume very sparkly, but I found the song bland? Probably just my personal taste, but I find Delta bland in general. Nice to see Australia progress though!

Pilk@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 96d

It's definitely not one of the "fun" songs... My pick for fun would be Greece for sure!

MeanElevator@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 95d (2 replies)

Hey homies. Wagwan

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d (1 reply)

Hey bruv. Listening to Lovage, smoking vapes and drinking.

MeanElevator@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d

I've got two of those down.

Watching a movie with my son and my daughter is outside chatting with a potential beau.

I'm about to stand in the driveway and stretch whilst holding a sword.

Yeah....I have swords (inherited)

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 96d (2 replies)

my brain has decided to migraine today

So I will just try to do easy things and no beach.

SituationCake@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 96d (1 reply)

Hope it resolves quickly

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 96d

Thanks. Coffee is helping immensely.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 95d (3 replies)

I'm getting a bonus at work I wasn't expecting with how the company as a whole went last year. I've decided to bang it into super since I wasn't budgeting on it coming through, and at least this way I can keep 100% of it, even if it's not actual cash in the hand.

It just makes me think about how lucky I am I can put some surprise extra money away like this and I'm getting a bit of extra side money from trivia and Coffee. It also helps fight those conservative brainworms looking at your pay and seeing you only get 2/3 of the bonus because the rest gets taken out as tax.

Pilk@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 95d (2 replies)

at least this way I can keep 100% of it

The taxman still gets his share unfortunately.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d

I'll get more than if it hit my bank account at least

StudChud@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d

The Man always gets his

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 96d (4 replies)

Bugger. I'm supposed to be driving to Melb for work today and the car won't start. A bunch of scary error lights are lighting up instead.

SituationCake@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 96d (3 replies)

Hope you got it sorted!

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 96d (2 replies)

All good for now. The problem was the battery, so the car was started and I'm now in Melbourne. It will be a coin toss as to whether it's going to start again, so I'm going to get a new battery today.

I was a bit concerned with all the warning lights. I think the voltage drop from the failing battery triggered sensors to detect non-existant faults, which also stopped the car from even trying to start. So it didn't try to turn over and fail like I'm used to with battery issues.

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 96d (1 reply)

20% of Century brand at supercheap, 20% house brand at repco and special members price at autobarn if you're looking to save a few coins. I think supercheap, maybe all of them, will fit it for you and take the old one for disposal.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 96d

Thanks, but I'm just going to get RACV to come out today. I'm working 12 hour days/nights for the next 4 days, so don't have much time. Plus if I put it off it will probably refuse to start after night shift when I just really want to get home to bed.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 95d (11 replies)

Well I did done fuck up. Assumptions and failure to measure causes flat pack furniture to not fit. Going to need a Frankenstein solution.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d (8 replies)

I always measure 47 times to make sure things I buy are going to fit.

And I still manage to get it wrong sometimes, especially if there are clearances for opening doors or similar involved.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 95d (7 replies)

This is one of those over the loo arch shelf things. Utterly unflushable unless raised 3 inches. Fits perfect every other direction. Gah!

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 95d (2 replies)

Lego under the legs.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d (1 reply)

excellent idea

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d

I'd build it to height then make the rest hollow to fit the legs in.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d

Clearance issues. It's always some sort of clearance that messes things up! I have a little cupboard in the bathroom that fits perfectly, except for a compartment on top with a lift up lid which hits the bench overhang.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 95d (2 replies)

Put lockable castors on the bottom?

Catfish@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 95d (1 reply)

Nice idea! Need a bit more height than the ones I'm aware of

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 95d

Some are adjustable but not sure by how much

Edit: Adjustable feet https://castorsgalore.com.au/wpccategories/adjustable-feet-knock-in-plugs-end-caps/

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d

🧟‍♀️

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 95d

Bunnings stock a bunch of different furniture feet/ legs that might help?

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 96d (3 replies)

If anyone here sees Tangy Pickle Twisties in their local supermarket for less than $5 a bag, lemme know, I will literally drive across the city tomorrow to stock up. They taste like the OG Maccas Shaker Fries and I. AM. OB. SESSED.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 95d

ok ...lol

Eagle@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 95d (2 replies)

I saw some last week in the foodworks at south wharf.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 95d (1 reply)

o.O

Eagle@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 95d

I will admit I looked at them and decided they weren't for me, but you do you!

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d

The battery turned out to be even more expensive than anticipated, as the auto stop/start feature needs a more expensive battery to power it. But apparently it still had the original battery, which makes it 7 years old so I really can't complain. Plus 56% of my driving is currently claimable as work km, so the battery is 56% tax deductable!

The technician was much better than the last one, changing over the battery efficently and doing some sort of mysterious communion with the computer that is apparently important. Mind you, it wouldn't take much to beat my last experience with having a battery changed, which involved a guy who was very shaky and I think hung over. He took about an hour trying to fit the battery unsuccessfully before figuring out it was the wrong size battery.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 95d

I can haz internet again.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 95d

nearly finished setting up my new phone

Just entering stuff by hand and uploading and reregistering apps . Also writing a lot of things down in my note book.

going through all my Mandarin apps, Traditional and Simplified, and calligraphy. I used to have such a huge vocab! It will come back. 🙂

And all the issues with connecting to my PC have been resolved too. So that means I can take new photos and post again. 🙂 I didn't lose interest, just couldn't upload. 😕

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 95d (2 replies)

I was looking forward to being home at 6pm tonight instead of my usual 7pm, but of course traffic decided to be horrendous and the trip took 3 hours, so I'm only just home now at 6:30. Today really didn't like me.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 95d (1 reply)

sounds like you need a 🍺

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 95d

Not on a school night!

I have to be up early for work tomorrow, so no 🍺 for me.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 96d (5 replies)

Car batteries are $$$$$. This is karma for me being happy that my service last week was not very expensive. Oh well, at least it's an easy fix.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 96d (4 replies)

Wild they missed the battery being on the way out if it was just serviced. Lets hope it was just because it has been colder in the morning more recently

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 96d (2 replies)

From my understanding of car batteries, which is not a lot, you should test them after a certain time (I think it's 24 hrs) because if you've driven the car/van it will obviously be charged. I think (again?) if it's under 12.3 (?) then you need to replace it. I really should listen more.

Basically you shouldn't test it until it's been sitting a while because it'll give a false reading like tyres do.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 95d (1 reply)

The battery guy did a test of the battery and said it passed. But it was apparently the original battery, which makes it 7 years old, so a new one was definitely due.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 95d

That's a good run.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 96d

I don't think the guy I took it too was big on the checking of potential issues like that, I think he just did the basic service items. Or he could just be uncommunicative, it's hard to tell.
