You're not missing much. Lamb is the more superior roast.

MeanElevator@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 82d

In all honesty, Australian pork is pretty crap. The crackling looks good as though.

TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 82d

I shall take personal responsibility.

SituationCake@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 82d

Dear cat jesus,

It's me again. All I want is to be well enough to go out Saturday night.

I'm in desperate need of a solo night of making random friends I'll probably never see again.

Treats will be dispersed amongst your people.

Iโ€™ve never been brave enough to do this. May cat Jesus smile on you, so I can live vicariously through your adventures.

I'm gonna cook my husband a roast pork for dinner because it's his favourite (as well as spag bol) and he's a good man that doesn't ask for much. Please pray to the crackle gods for me. ๐Ÿ™

panadol has been taken, every joint aches, have chills fever. I do believe this is the flu and i have been vaccinated too

now bed

MeanElevator@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 82d

I've been feeling iffy since Monday. No chills or body aches, but like an oncoming cold/flu thing. So far only a bit of a cough and a bit of tiredness.

Got my flu shot 6 weeks ago as well, hoping it's keeping the virus at bay.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 82d

I hope it's nothing serious. Feel better soon. โ˜•

I am feeling very flat and unmotivated at the moment. I've been spending far too much time scrolling on Reddit instead of doing anything useful.

The good news from there is that the finance bro hive mind is slowly pivoting from outrage that they might have to pay more tax to poking and prodding at the new rules to try to figure out new stragegies and loopholes. Most of the 'loopholes' are along the lines of 'I'm just going to invest in things that get me income then' or 'I'm just going to pay off my investment property and keep it as an income producing investment' as if they are secret tricks they have found and not the exact thing the changes are supposed to lead to.

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 82d (3 replies)

Yeah, we're dealing with that whole issue here. So far, it seems a lot of people are hanging fire waiting to see exactly what the new legislation (which hasn't been seen yet) actually says. Accountants are panicking left right and centre anticipating a LOT of adjustments to their clients' financial arrangements when the new legislation does actually show up. Good business for us, but I'm anticipating some very long days towards the end of next financial year.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 82d (2 replies)

I think there is a lot of learning going on at the moment. I find it a bit amazing how many people have things like investment properties while not actually understanding the basics of how negative gearing and tax work. They've just gone into it based on vibes and 'everybody says' and haven't taken the time to learn about what they are doing. Then they've panicked about the tax changes based on vibes, but some are starting to slowly work out what it will actually mean for them and are realising the sky isn't falling after all.

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 82d (1 reply)

Negative gearing worked very well for multiple decades as a vehicle for rewarding people for doing the hard yards (mortgage) to take personal responsibility for their future economic health. These people have grown up with the 'its always been this way' baked into their consciousness. Now they are learning what the phrase 'middle class welfare' actually means when it's removed. I am stocking up on popcorn.

mertn22@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 82d

I'm living in someone else's investment property so I am stocking up on beans and rice.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 82d (3 replies)

If there another cold going around? Been getting chills and headache.

And has anyone seen Spud , did she get the job?

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 82d (2 replies)

I think she's still waiting on callback.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 82d (1 reply)

and LowExperience, is she ok, how did it work out with her frenemies?

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 82d

Dunno - I hope so. My feeling is that the 'friends' are unduly influenced by past experience. Imo LowExperience's current one is a keeper but it's still early days.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 82d (1 reply)

Thought I might be early to work this morning. Then I picked up one of the kids and sat on the couch to wake him up.

"Do you want to get off dad now so he can go to work?"

"No..."

Force_majeure1234@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 82d

Nawwww

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 82d (2 replies)

There's an option through some HR software at work to wish people a happy birthday. You can do people with birthdays coming up for the next two weeks.

I think it would be really funny to sit there and batch wishing people happy birthday every now and then. This is an international company with a head office overseas, and there's also a sister company we have nothing to do with that uses the same internal systems.

I might do it for a while and see what happens, you can't get angry at me because I'm just being polite.

MeanElevator@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 82d

Do it. You're just spreading cheer.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 82d

On the otherhand looking up my address to post me a 5c candy cane during look down was not appreciated

Northside Parent Battle of the Bands was pretty good as it turns out. One guy got to live his childhood dream and played the entire solo in Sweet Child O' Mine.

Just found out I can't use square brackets here the way I would at work...

Friend used Sentimental Object in a much more public way than I had anticipated. Feel more shit that I couldn't turn up in person, but the intent clearly got there

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 82d

it's fine, good will is such a precious thing and you have heaps

Backslash in front of the [ and ] seems to work. Otherwise it gets badly converted to a link.
