No guns, no helicopter, no military- that's still one star.

aeronmelon@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 88d

Five crumpet wanted level.

psx_crab@lemmy.zip · 13 pts · 88d

But with a buttload of cops ready to make arrest and also spike trap, so it's really just 3 stars for the rest of the world but 1 star for US.

Hamartia@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 87d

Yep. Five stars is when you inconvenience a foreign country manufacturing weapons, in the UK, for use in their on going genocide.

Why isn't the car and driver filled with 5 clips of bullets? My American mind cannot comprehend this /s

homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 87d (1 reply)

I know, right? Those domestic terrorists were shooting video!

aeronmelon@lemmy.world · 32 pts · 88d (4 replies)

That was actually impressive. So smooth, so professional, no escalation.

“You’re being stopped, please vacate the vehicle.”

It only work in a society where people arent expecting to get killed by the cops. In the US its reasonable to fear for your life during any arrest, so people tend to panic and run. In this case the potential danger of trying to run is just so much higher than getting arrested.

HappyFrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 21 pts · 88d

Also in a society where guns don't outnumber people.

ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org · 3 pts · 86d

In the US, cops are afraid to be killed by people too. Or love pretending to face tough criminals (and their dogs, apparently.) That's why SWATting is so overpowering.

markko@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 87d

Please stop doing crime

This is not America

bro stopped instantly. Why did the cops think he was gonna run? I feel like this was just an excuse for that one cop to play with the spike strip

InternationalHermit@lemmy.today · 10 pts · 87d

Probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to use that thing, so any excuse will do.

HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social · 6 pts · 87d

Having watched too many of those "police camera action" shows, I feel like I'm a professional police officer by now so I can give you some bullshit reasoning I just made up:

They probably thought he was gonna run because of previous experiences with the guy. They probably had intelligence that he drives down that road daily at the same time. They just planned accordingly. Often times they do stuff just in case.

Also, if you are just driving about and suddenly you see some dude throw something in front of you, you'll stop. It might take a while to figure out what was thrown and by that time you are already surrounded and the first copper is pulling your door open.

All in all, pretty nice plan and action.

psx_crab@lemmy.zip · 11 pts · 88d

I'm pretty sure the police gonna tackle someone running down the street but alas, he's just there to deploy spike for the escaping Nissan driving at 20kmph.

Brainsploosh@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 87d (1 reply)

No signal before the spike strip? They must have been very worried about flight. Good de-escalation in that case.

The very calm arrest is either overkill or great police work, defusing flight risk enough that the suspect stops resisting. Must be annoying for officers that it's hard to tell which from the outside.

HuudaHarkiten@piefed.social · 6 pts · 87d

Nobody got hurt, I say it was great police work.

Darkard@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 88d (1 reply)

Two people walking along blocking the officers view, completely clueless.

Bluegrass_Addict@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 87d

in all fairness, that cap was being weird AF with the spike strip...

BradleyUffner@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 87d

Based on the title, I was expecting another cop car to come flying in to the suspect's car out of nowhere at mach 3.

Fizz@lemmy.nz · 3 pts · 87d

That was a smooth arrest

RockBottom@feddit.org · 2 pts · 87d (1 reply)

Shooting suspects is not ok there.

BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk · 2 pts · 86d

These cops likely don't even have guns.

BigBrownBeaver@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 87d

Haha there's no driver!!!111
