That's the lie they want you to believe. Just because you enjoy your job or have a great job doesn't mean you aren't making a huge sacrifice. The sacrifice might just be a little more bearable it you don't hate you job.

That's the joke. Those folks have sacrificed everything in their lives and their families, and in exchange they fly through space in a tin can.

Not these ones. In the story, they are super advanced aliens who can cross many galaxies in just a few hours, so they don't need to drink their own fluids, However, their civilization don't have smartphones or AI (maybe some robots, but definitely not Claude or ChatGPT). It's not a super accurate and hard science fiction comic trip but a more "relaxed", satiric and kind of retro one.
