Or, on desktop, does clicking on the text box register as typing? Or clicking anywhere else in the application window? And after I stop typing, how long does that "typing..." indicator keep displaying? Does it have a five-second cooldown or something? Or is that really a live indicator of every keystroke?
This is all probably entirely dependent on the individual app. I do not think there is some established standard that all apps follow. And I figure the only way to know for sure how any given app behaves is for you to have two devices open and chatting with each other so you can note what happens.
