You might want to check what the Netherlands looked like in 1837, because it looks nothing like what you have here.

itsjustachairmary@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 97d

The Netherlands used to be a swamp. It still is, but it used to too.

nightwatch_admin@lemmy.world · 30 pts · 98d

Grey is a datacenter, black is no data center.

Nioxic@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 25 pts · 98d (4 replies)

Mistral has ai data center near paris and in sweden somewhere. I assume close to stockholm

slaacaa@lemmy.world · 57 pts · 98d (1 reply)

The map is ony showing data centers built before 1837

tourist@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 98d

how many were built by 1838

AI data center or regular data center with some GPU compute?

inlandempire@jlai.lu · 9 pts · 98d (4 replies)

Not for long lol https://commission.europa.eu/topics/competitiveness/ai-continent_en

Our plan will bring the necessary elements together to help European businesses excel in AI by setting up at least 19 AI factories across Europe, [...] establishing up to 5 AI gigafactories, large-scale facilities with massive computing power and data centres.

slaacaa@lemmy.world · 23 pts · 98d

Let me know when they also finished the time machine, so I know that I have to update my post

icelimit@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 97d (1 reply)

What's an ai gigafactory lmao

inlandempire@jlai.lu · 3 pts · 97d

Better than betafactories but worse than sigmafactories

I think you missed that part πŸ˜‰

Ing@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 97d (1 reply)

I wish this to be true, but in Netherlands there should be at least one and in Malaga municipality (Andalucia-south spain) they have approved the construction for one data center...

I think you missed that part πŸ˜‰

Dojan@pawb.social · 1 pts · 98d (5 replies)

Eh. I’m not sure if we have any data centres dedicated specifically for training and running LLMs, but we do have data centres that do both.

lemongarlic@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 97d

Europe definitely has those too

skisnow@lemmy.ca · 0 pts · 98d (3 replies)

There is a real difference in the type of hardware that gets used in an AI data centre; it's not a trivial or pedantic distinction.

thisfro@slrpnk.net · 4 pts · 98d

Where do you make the cut though? Do basic GPU nodes count already? Do TPUs count?

Dojan@pawb.social · 1 pts · 98d (1 reply)

I am aware, but it’d be disingenuous to say that we’re not training LLMs in Europe.

skisnow@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 97d

Lucky that nobody said that, then.

diabetic_porcupine@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 97d

Is that a dick?

Interesting. This map matches the availability of uncensored news across Europe!

Wake up sheeple!!!!!111111!

REDACTED@infosec.pub · 7 pts · 98d (2 replies)

/s ?

AGuyAcrossTheInternet@fedia.io · 6 pts · 98d (1 reply)

Yes. I hoped the !!!!!11111!! would show that sufficiently.

ddplf@szmer.info · 6 pts · 98d

Still an out of place joke

basxto@discuss.tchncs.de · 4 pts · 98d

news were probably heavily censored back then

slaacaa@lemmy.world · -14 pts · 98d (17 replies)

The continent always lacked innovation

red_tomato@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 98d (4 replies)

Hey! We innovated plastic bottle caps!

qevlarr@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 98d (1 reply)

Why are people against measures to stop pollution? Oh no, wokeness changed bottle caps. Grow up mate

red_tomato@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 98d

Relax. This is a shit post in a shit post community

ZkhqrD5o@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 98d (1 reply)

Get the fuck out of here with this shit. If people were half as vigilant about things that mattered, as they're about plastic caps, then Putin's cocksuckers couldn't get in government.

Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 0 pts · 97d

Calm down dude.

REDACTED@infosec.pub · 3 pts · 98d (7 replies)

You gotta use /s whenever you joke. Learned that the hard way.

Findus_Falke@feddit.org · 11 pts · 98d (1 reply)

What if if it's not a joke, though? I suggest we add "/s" for "serious.

slaacaa@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 98d

Good idea /s

slaacaa@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 98d

It is literally a shitpost community, meaning everything written/posted is a joke, unless otherwise stated

Strider@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 98d (3 replies)

It is in shitpost but it's not really obvious, sometimes serious (good) discussions arise.

But on the bright side. Who gives a shit about downvotes. I've even gotten a downvote on a post against pedos. 🀷

Dyskolos@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 98d (1 reply)

But that probably proved your point, if you made a pedo pissed at you πŸ˜‰

Strider@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 98d

Taking pride in a downvote πŸ‘πŸ˜

REDACTED@infosec.pub · 1 pts · 98d

Fair

Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 98d (3 replies)

The continent that invented basically everything (or close to)? Common, try to brag a bit about what "your continent" has invented.

slaacaa@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 98d (2 replies)

Sir, this is a shitpost

Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 98d (1 reply)

Europe invented shit too achtually.
