[a yellow character in a suit is pleading, looking desperate]
Damn, climate change is getting really bad, we should probably do something about it
[a huge arrow points at the yellow character]
Elected official and/or ultra rich person who has the power to do something about climate change

We should do something about what climate change is doing to this quarter's earnings.
Maybe excavate a few acres in a drought prone region where land is cheap because nobody wants to farm there, kill every living thing, strip the topsoil, and plant 2048 birch trees?
Or we could get really woke and do this somewhere that used to be a farm. Just as long as it doesn't inconvenience me.

Yeah, but the oil industry motivates him more.

Hey now, what could I, a fresh trillionair, do about climate change? Sure, I could feed everyone who cannot feed themselves (~$8 billion), stop flying my private jet between my homes, turn off the natural gas generators belching CO2 into the atmosphere, guide my companies to using solar and wind power, build better quality electric cars, build electric car charging in more places, encourage people to... eat more beans, or personally fund huge portions of the government I personally cut. Nothing at all to be done.

But the ways to counter it may hurt their short term profits.

Industrialists want you to eat more meat, not less.
That's why they'd rather talk about other climate change related topics, paper straws and AC and whatnot.

Those are from activists, not industrialists.
