Keir Starmer to step down as prime minister two years after historic election victory

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/jun/22/keir-starmer-resigns-as-prime-minister

Keir Starmer has announced he will stand down as prime minister after days of intense pressure from Labour MPs, including cabinet ministers, following the return of Andy Burnham to Westminster.

Less than two years after a historic election victory, Starmer had faced calls from his MPs to set out a timeline for his departure, with many of them unnerved by the threat from Nigel Farage’s party before the next general election.

Starmer’s decision to announce his departure will now start a race among Labour MPs to become the UK’s seventh prime minister in 10 years, with Burnham in pole position to win. If he is uncontested, he could be in Downing Street within weeks.

But they shouldn't have

Labor didn't win due to popularity but due to fptp and a split right wing vote. And they slid right hard. One must not be overly hopeful, lest they'll be disappointed.

What the heck is going on with British PMs? There have been like 50 in the last 5 years it feels like. One of which killed the Queen singlehandedly before retiring after just a week in office or smth

They’ve all been shit, but there’s a mechanism to get rid of them, which, in theory, is a good thing?

He dared to criticise Israel and call for aid to be delivered to Palestinians, so he's being removed and a Z**ist installed instead

Starmer is an authoritarian Zionist whore who labeled Palestine Action a terrorist group and arrested journalists. He gaslit and used fake "antisemitism" to stop people from speaking about the genocide.

Fuck Kid Starver.

Not sure about his individual role in those things.

He did recognise Palestine as a state and called out the awful conditions there

Recognising Palestine is an empty gesture that has done nothing to stop the Zionist extermination campaign in Gaza or the pogroms and settlements in the West Bank.

Starmer did nothing to sanction or pressure Israel and was on the record supporting the siege of Gaza at the outset of the genocide.

Starmer was brought into power by Zionist dark money via We Believe in Israel and Labour Friends of Israel. Once installed he purged left wing elements under the guise of "antisemitism", conflating any criticism of Israel with antisemitism and was a loyal servant of the Epstein class, appointing Epstein's best friend, Peter Mandelson, as US Ambassador.
