it sux, even aggressive nordic winter became softer, summer is hell now, i tired overheating, it was 30C today, but hopefully i got massive rain and clouds became angry cat doing arararwrarwarrwrarwrarwrarwrrwrarwrwrrwrarrwrw!!!!!!!!!! :33333
If you're asking seriously - then it's because you'll stink up the microwave itself, the kitchen and maybe even more.
Fish specifically contains fats and oils that are going to be boiled from microwaving and sprayed into the environment as result, making everyone's day much worse.
You can do it in your microwave, if you want. But doing it in a communal microwave is unkind to those who share the space. There are other foods that stink, but fish is special.

Ohhhhh lol
It would make a really good surreal meme, though... Maybe I'll make it one :3
The base image would be of the sea, with a microwave floating in the sky, and a warning sign would read "PLEASE DO NOT MICROWAVE THE SEA"

I am grateful to learn this from an internet stranger and not from experience.

You most certainly are lucky, given I learned this lesson from my roommate in college. It took days to get the odor out of the flat.

it'd be ok if you put it inside a container though, right?
also why only seafood? in my experience this happens to all kinds of meat

It stinks to high heaven. Not good for an office setting.
