Anne Hathaway ‘Spent a Week’ Prepping for Harley Quinn Before ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Meeting; Nolan Didn’t Reveal Catwoman Until Two Hours Into Their Chat

Everything about TDKR didn’t do it for me.

She didn’t really do it for me as Catwoman

I blame that more on the character design and the writing than on Hathaway's ability. She's always brought her a-game. But I think they wanted a very different catwoman than usual (more smart, less sultry) and it just didn't work as a character.

I know she's an objectively good actor but for some reason she looks like she's always on the verge of a mental breakdown to me so there's this weird disconnect whenever she has a commanding role. My brain just won't suspend my disbelief sometimes.

I never read the comics. I only know the character from the animated series and Tim Burton's movie. But it seems to me that Catwoman is a mirror of Batman and should be just as damaged. That wasn't portrayed in Nolan's films.

I was surprised by how much I liked her Catwoman, but she sadly had no chemistry with Bale whatsoever.
