To be fair, there are some things that work in comic books that don't work in movies, and vice versa. But they should still try to adapt the comic panels so that it translates better to film, not change the storyline completely.
Also, we already have a Killing Joke movie and a Hush movie (unless you specifically meant big budget live-action adaptations).

Yesterday I did a double feature and saw "The End of Oak Street" and the 10th anniversary screening of "Your Name".
