They saw the growing success of multiple octopath releases and wanted a cut. But honestly octopath 1 left alot to be desired. Thinking this may scratch that itch for me... No more Pepsi, I'm getting a Coke!
Octopath is owned by Square Enix as well so idk about that. I am happy they are finally doing this, I've been asking for this since before octopath but once i saw octo I just wanted to see it more. Personally I think they should break the series into 2. The main one continuing to do whatever it is they are doing, and then a classic style series like this but completely new stories and just continuing to do the old school way while improving the systems to be more modern. I feel like they would have better luck pushing that these days over a truly new FF sadly.
The “staggered” enemies reminds me of Octopath Traveller. Having an eight person party is a lot like the Octopath mobile game, too. But I do appreciate the pixel art.

No kidding. This literally looks like a new Octopath Traveler game but instead they slapped the FF brand sticker on it.
I’m not against that, but call a spade a spade. This is not new or innovative like they’re making it out to be.

Brave Exvius started in 2015 and Octopath was 2019. This is just a new iteration, dumping the gacha part and adding a full traversable open world map.

Octopath is not just its HD-2D art style, as its core (at least for octopath 1 and 2) are the 8 independant stories, main characters and basic jobs.
