This seems to be an infrequent thing in films I've seen tho, so I was wondering if it's more common than the porn companies think, and if anyone else has any interest in them.

Given that scenes can be incredibly intense, I think the exit interviews are pretty critical to demonstrating that it was all consensual. I've seen a porn where the woman started crying in the middle--not BDSM, but still very, very rough--and it sure as shit didn't look like she was doing anything very willingly after that point.

Well... Yeah. I mean, no, going to work isn't exactly consensual; the coercion is that, if you don't, you end up homeless. I get it. I assume that the people involved have other prospects in life, and that they aren't filming 1 or 2 kink [dot] com scenes and then having enough money to retire on.

In the more interview type ones I like that it shows everyone having enjoyed it and had fun, kind of wholesome. For the more production heavy porn I will always remember this one with Lena Paul where her husband gets kidnapped and she ends up fucking the kidnappers I believe and then they leave her and drive away with her husband insinuating that they just offed him. There was this era where people started writing tv episodes and adding in the porn lol.
