I didn't get three phds just to be called Doctor.

That's Professor Dr. Dr. Dr. to you

Dr. med. is not a real doctor though

And the third at least is a honorary degree. Also people bragging with their title are usually the biggest duds.

Living close to Germany, it seems to me the Germans really like to show their titles and no one seems to think it's pedantic. That said, over here in the Netherlands the Dutch titles weren't used by many, but I see quite a lot of MBA's, MSC's and even BSC's these days.

We usually distinguish between qualification and title. Using your qualification to underline an argument is fine. Using your title to try and make yourself worth more than someone else is not. So "I'm a plumber by trade, I know how that plumbing has to be done properly" is OK. "My PhD makes me more important and helps me cope with my self worth problems" is not.

Exactly! People who know they are the shit don't need to proof it to others by adding titles to their name.

That’s just your inferiority complex.

@liquorice

Sooo right.

With triple Dr you are Godlike in Germany 😂

Thogh I have learned, that most guys around me with a Dr were very often incompetent in their topics in practice 🤷‍♂️
