Even high-end gaming PCs struggled with Halo at maximum settings in 2003

hell my PC struggled with Q3A in '99. most PCs did.

I was so pissed when Microsoft snatched it away for Xbox. But equally disappointed about how boring it was when it was eventually released on PC.

I wouldn't play another new FPS for about 15 years.

On PC there were better games already. Counter strike, COD, Wolfenstein, Tribes, Rainbow Six etc. Halo on PC was outdated in 2003.

Every game I ran on my pc in 2003 ran poorly. All I could afford was a potato
