As an English-speaker, my favorite animal sound in French is still "coin, coin, coin!"

It's one of the greatest bad translations - think 98 fenêtres for Windows 98, or vétéran assaisoné for seasoned veteran, it'll never not make me giggle.
Aha, I'm only an A2 learner in French. Is "coin" not a good translation for "quack?"
I've actually received French & Belgian postcards where they make the balloon bubbles of ducks / geese say "coin, coin!"
I think they’re talking about bad automated translations involving the English word coin (as in money) or the other French word coin (“corner”).
I imagine that word isn’t easy to pronounce for an English speaker, with the nasal vowel?
You know I didn't even consider coin as in money, you've added another level to the hilarity, thank you

Hehehe that tickled my brain good, thank you!
I'm so confused. My mom sent me a postcard from France around ~2002, and the ducks were all saying 'coin, coin, coin!' in the pictures.
EDIT: I'm an idiot at language in general, but I'm also a good mimic. That's my strength I guess?
No, you’re perfectly right, that’s the sound ducks make. It’s just that there’s another, unrelated word that’s also “coin”.
Ah, so I'm not quite insane, yet. Good! 😄
Coin also means corner, so imagine a duck going 'corner corner' 😂
Ignore me I'm too easily amused
Oh, no the amusement factor is a big part of why we hang on, innit, mate? 😅
Well done, et merci.
Mêêêêêh !!!!! ou bêêêêêêêêh ?! 🙃
