Yep! Cult leaders use the coercive control DA perps do, just on a bigger scale with more resources. I've found countless DA perps are sex focused, and women are their property... and who doesn't want lots of "things"?
I remember watching a documentary about David Koresh that said he'd give sermons every night and women would attend because he'd take one to bed afterwards. Sex with him was like sex with their God so it was a religious experience for them.
