Can dogs in Finland read English?

Not just for dogs. My adult son texted me yesterday to say he'd found a 'good stick'.

Legitimately going through my wood scraps to see if I have enough to make a decent looking bin. I've even got a couple primo fetching sticks waiting to be pulled off some deadwood.

Why did they censor dog

ickplant@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 10d

The word was too ruff.

Just kidding, it’s a logo.

I hate to be "that guy" but be very careful throwing sticks for dogs. I know several vets and throat damage from sticks is a depressingly common injury for dogs.

The dog races after the stick, and it bounces weirdly. Rather than grabbing it in the middle, the tip goes into their mouth. Their own momentum then impales them on it. It's a major surgery to remove it and repair the damage (assuming the dog survives).

Balls are a lot safer, and go a LOT further, particularly with a ball thrower.

Mackinac Island is a wild place. I didn’t know there was an ice bridge to the main land in the winter.

ickplant@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 10d

I didn’t know that either! That’s super cool.

Careful tho, the overdue fines are pretty steep.

What country is MI? Or is it city code? Milan or Manilla? And why use code instead of writing it out?

ickplant@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 10d (1 reply)

It’s Michigan, I’ll be happy to write it out. It’s routine to use abbreviations for U.S. states even outside of the U.S., but I understand that not everyone is going to know them.

Thank you

That island is between the two Michigan peninsulas. There’s a 4-mile long bridge nearby connecting them.
