_stranger_@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 22d (1 reply)

Return_of_Chippy@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 22d

daannii@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 22d (4 replies)

Have you read the book Animal farm?

Or watch the old cartoon. (Not the new cgi garbage).

And I think you will understand a bit better how things unfolded.

It's about how any uniting-ideology can be used against the people who follow it.

It creates conformity, obedience, loyalty to "the cause."

And some psychopath on a power trip will always try to come in and take power. The people are ripe for manipulation when in the state of "revolution".

Doesn't matter if it's France or Russia.

It's a problem with humans following hierarchy. And the "sunk cost fallacy".

Too many beans?

Return_of_Chippy@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 21d

Too many beans

lemmysmash@piefed.social · 1 pts · 22d (2 replies)

Pretty much how it worked everywhere so far.

CovertGogurt@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 22d (1 reply)

Same thing with socialism.

lemmysmash@piefed.social · 3 pts · 22d

Certain socialist concepts, when applied sparingly, targetedly and thoughtfully, work pretty well — as we can see in the Nordic countries. But if used as a global state paradigm (also add populism to it), then yes, same shit.

IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf · 0 pts · 22d (2 replies)

the "successful" are successful because they were willing to exploit others

and the ussr wasnt a true communist nation as instead of the workers, the state had control over the means of production

It would be if you hadn't pulled a jack-in-box surprise. Beans in the title, but commies in the content. Shame on you
