Also I managed to crack into a laptop I had trouble opening before. Turns out there were screws UNDER the rubber feet. I know companies do this sometimes but this is the first I encountered it myself, not great for repairability as they probably expect you to buy more rubber feet of them to replace the ones you ripped off.
Reminds me of the dungeons in Elden Ring where you'd get stuck and it turns out the rest of the area is UNDER one of the lifts.
Last time I came to work to no computers, (well no internet and no PoE phones), I identified the issue as the Network switches being down.
I couldnโt call IT because the phones were down and I couldnโt email IT because the internet was down.
(With my managers permission) I went into the Server room, identified the problem (20 year old UPS died) and fixed it. (Bypassed the UPS by connecting the racks directly to the GPOs).
With computers back cup, I emailed IT what happened.
Nek minit, The IT manager has complained to HR, claiming that we had compromised the business IT security and we must both be fired.
We didnโt get written up, but the UPS still hasnโt been replaced 2 months later, the server room locks have not been changed and no one is allowed to turn the lights off.
If we have a power outage, we need to wait for head office to send an IT tech out to flick the circuit breaker.
If a contractor or Safety inspector comes out, they need to be escorted by an IT technician at all times.
We have already failed a Fire Audit and the electricity bills are through the roof, but no one has called out the new IT manager for being a Dick.
I'm looking forward to seeing what superpowers I get from the activation of my Covid chip. You don't think I'll miss out because I haven't had a booster for a few years, do you?
I've set a gentle alarm to go off a couple of minutes beforehand to remind myself... but except I'll still jump through the roof when it happens!! I'm surprised by the amount of people who don't know about it.
Nah, the phone can still make emergency calls, the 2pm beep test was on the emergency network. Part of the reason for the warning for people with secret phones.
Back in the office after the almost week off. Fortunately there isn't too much to catch up on. A lot of emails are just from head office Sharepoint. They don't seem to realise not everyone in the organisation needs to know about when the local cafe is doing 30c off coffee
There's a price update meeting I'm straight up keeping out of. We had a price increase a few months ago where it's quite complicated to have that reflected in a catalogue. We're doing it again and it seems like no one has learnt from last time. I don't need to be part of these conversations that retread the same ground.
This is what prompted people to ask if AI could reconcile the price differences between a spreadsheet and a PDF. The answer was no then and it's still no now

Mickey just bit the soft flesh of my knee pit. I don't think I've ever squealed so loudly so early.

A very attractive police woman complemented my vehicle last night during a booze bus stop. File under: โCommunity engagementโ

The booze bus sounds much more fun than it is.

Get to work, computer says no. IT says do this x 8. Don't know, fuck it bring us the hardware. I foresee very little getting done today.

I keep my old phone charged without a sim as a spare google device, it also went beep.
mertn22@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 22d
That is very scary. The only explanation I can thing of is that govt. colluded with google to hack your phone over wifi.
