That he doesn't have massive public support is absurd. Do ppl want life to get better or not? We cheer heroes like Robin Hood as a story but refuse to support anyone trying to help us in reality.
Retiring with burnout and disillusioned by the City, the self-styled anti-inequality campaigner argued for a 2% tax on individual wealth over £10m, which he said would raise £24bn a year for the Treasury.
The ultra wealthy generally didn't get that way by being easy to take down. They're expert manipulators who have figured out how to beat back and turn around any attacks made easy-to-understand for the general populace. They are devious, and require equally devious thinking to outwit.
Gary’s work has been hugely important to me personally as I feel like this was one of the key pieces of the puzzle that I had danced around but never quite gotten into place. This is at the root of many of our modern problems from falling living standards, rise of the far right, etc. Once someone’s fortune is large enough it becomes a self-sustaining phenomenon like a black hole that has unchecked growth. Eventually they will consume everything unless we unite to change the system that allows this.
