So, Greta Thunberg wasn’t so crazy after all.
FatVegan@leminal.space · 16 pts · 24d
But she is annoyimg so everything she says, doesn't matter. -Real people in my life
CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org · 2 pts · 23d
And the ones who aren't annoying? Well, they don't get talked about at all.
It's almost as if people are working backwards from a set conclusion.

You just figured out humanity!

Well, duh.
betanumerus@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 23d
all she did was pay attention in science class. we taught her well
Reannlegge@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 23d
What about the environment or that guys penis size? /s I know you meant about penis size but just imagine if she said more about the environment.
I hope you know I am being a sarcastic asshole but yes she is not crazy!

To the people of Spain and France: My heart goes out to you. As a British Columbian, we, too, are struggling with the same fire battles and devastation. Added to our fire challenges, is a “neighbour” that is threatening us at every turn, including: "threatening new tariffs over wildfire smoke drifting south of the border."
Malyca@lemmy.zip · 11 pts · 24d
Oregon is on fire and I'm sorry for that, it's not fair, both countries are creating smoke for one another.

It's almost like the boundaries are all imaginary.
garbagebagel@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 24d
Omg lol when you took the swing to bad neighbours I was like "yeah Alberta is bad" then I read the next sentence and I was like oh yeah fuck.

Alberta = USA
CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org · 2 pts · 23d
No, no we're not. Maybe our government is, but that also goes for Saskatchewan, and even Ontario in it's own way.
TimothyOilypants@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 23d
Only in that if the current Alberta government keeps doing what they are doing, they are going to trigger a renaissance in domestic terrorism.

Until we all die miserably. Wonderful
CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org · 2 pts · 23d
Live miserably, more likely. If this was /c/bangladesh maybe it'd be different.
snoons@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 24d
Well, I guess that means we should build a new pipeline or three.
SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 23d
and more Brookfield data centres!
melsaskca@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 24d
These useless "what if" articles. Let's bring back facts and journalism. In other news...we feel that climate change is closely related to vibe coding. Sheesh!

It won't be "forever". Once the piled up fuel (that's been accumulating for the past hundred years or so since we've taken the stance that all forest fires are bad) are burnt through, we'll stop seeing these big fires over and over.
healthetank@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 24d
From what I've seen, that doesn't apply to Canada's boreal forests
JohnnyCanuck@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 24d
Well, that and when the forests don't grow back fast enough to provide new fuel. I.e. when what was forest becomes desert.
Past mistakes with forest management are only part of the problem.
CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org · 1 pts · 23d
Grassland comes before desert. There are bits that are coming back as grassland in northern Alberta already.
non_burglar@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 24d
There have been other fires in other years.
CeeBee_Eh@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 23d
I'm not sure what your point is.
CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org · 2 pts · 23d
Or until the forest is gone, anyway. Most future biome maps I've seen have two smaller patches of boreal forest.
betanumerus@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 23d
Global warming isn't like climbing to floor 2. It's like climbing the stairwell forever.
