House Democrats who voted against cutting US aid to Israel received three times as much money from pro-Israel donors as those who voted in favor. (Median = 3.1 times as much.)
Democrats who voted against the amendment accepted an average of $348,239; those who voted in favor received $115,932 on average. All together, $34 million in pro-Israel cash was behind the votes against cutting aid to Israel.
Did the money actually buy votes? Or did the money simply help keep in office politicians who are comfortable ignoring voters?1 Neither option is very good.

They're paying us our own money to keep sending them more of our money

Technically they're paying our politicians with our tax money, to give our money to Israel...
So that they can afford free healthcare, higher education, and commit genocide.
Waaaaaaay worse than just giving us our own money back....

Hey, at least Americans are finally funding someone’s healthcare and educations…

While I'm sure there's a bunch of hoops they need to jump thru, they even get free hormones/surgery for gender reassignments...
Like, it's honestly wild that republican voters don't have a problem with their tax dollars paying for all this stuff overseas when they don't think we can/should get it ourselves.
Hell, look at how gleeful they were cutting domestic disease monitoring to save a few million. Why keep sending money to Israel?

As long as the Israelis are killing people MAGA hates, that's all that matters to them.

It was never direct AIPAC spending that kept them in office...
It was Hillary's "Victory Fund" which stole money from state parties and offered crumbs back with strings. Which itself was funded by pro-Israel donors along with people like Donald Trump.
From 1995 to 2025, going against Israel made Israel complain to the DNC. And then the DNC cut off funding to the whole state.
That stopped in 2025, and the DNC has been dumping all that money back on every state party. The only favoritism, is states with a lot of Republican seats to gain are getting extra.
100%, string free funding.
Some of those state parties are still run by corrupt neolibs that are pro-Israel.
But we have a bottom-up DNC again, the DNC isn't going to tell a state party what to do. That's the job of Dem voters in those states, and we need to do our fucking part.
That's the main reason there's such a push against the party right now. Oligar hs want us to think we can't win the battles after we just won the war

Bottoms up until they get back into power, then back to the status quo. Democrats can never be trusted
corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 25d
Binary choice, my dude. Can they be trusted more than the single alternative?
SaltyAmerican@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 25d
Maybe binary choice for you, but it's not binary if it's 2 factions fighting for the same ideology
frostedtrailblazer@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 24d
It’s binary unless voters change the voting system like NYC, Maine, and Alaska voters. We’ve proved that we can change the system. The bigger fight is to change the voting system.

More Democrats voted for the amendment than against it. To pretend the two parties are the same is absurd. Yes, both are bad, but so is getting slapped in the face and shot in the leg.

Republicans tell us they are trash, Democrat are covert about it

I believe the US will have an Israeli president in the not so distant future, given this shit, coupled with the out in the open corruption, and the possibility of elections not really being a thing anymore, I think a perpetual GOP dictatorship will at some point be run by Israel. Prediction, within 10 yrs I'm gonna say.
