There was a brief time this summer when Mountain Dew renamed itself “American Dew,” and I sure as fuck hope that’s over. I have a hard time imagining these companies having that much success marketing to douchebags.
Besides it just being tacky. I don't drink energy drinks. Only coffee. I think Ive only had 1 red bull in my life, didn't like it. And I think I had one mixed drink with a monster zero. Didn't like it
Monster has a flavor now called Pacific Punch, which tastes exactly like Hawaiian Punch did back in the 90s (the current Hawaiian Punch recipe is atrocious), and I love it so much.
There’s one name brand energy drink I like strictly for the taste. But I told myself I wouldn’t drink energy drinks anymore. If they had a caffeine free version I’d drink it probably.
I won’t say which brand because I’m not going to give them any free publicity lol.
Honestly beyond the tacky 'Murica theming here, I still don't understand how or why energy drinks became the new de facto drink.
Far as I can tell, they're just sodas that taste bad? I'm not exactly championing soda as some positive thing here, but exactly what have we gained by replacing 70% of the soda section with "energy drinks"?
this is a mystery for me as well. I may be too old. I tried Redbull twice in my life (not good), never tried any of these other brands.
If I want "energy", I drink a mate based soda, kombucha or a ginger shot (oh, and tea/coffee of course)
So, as someone in the business it's not so much that people aren't buying it as much as it is they ordered way too many. Allow me to explain. The webapp the store uses to order it has "suggested orders" for your convenience. They also conveniently recommend you order lots of what ever the latest product is to increase their sales numbers. Some managers are lazy as fuck and couldn't be fucked to peak in the stock room and see what's running low so they just order whatever is recommended. So, if it feels like they don't get in your favorite drink as often as you'd like but are drowning in cases of the newest drink nobody wants, it's not just your imagination.
Stores around me have been pulling NOS off their shelves despite it usually getting sold out, while they have whole aisles of Monster and RedBull that barely ever take a hit to the inventory. It doesn't make any sense. How much are the companies behind Monster and Redbull paying the store to keep so much unsold stock?

Just to be mean: diet American dew? Sounds like a oxymoron.

So far, I know of only two energy drinks that tastes good.
If I need an energy drink I mostly drink Red Bull, tastes fucking terrible, but does the job

Energy drinks have caffeine, usually more "exotic" or special flavor varieties and come in larger cans. Vitamins and stuff to make them seem healthy.

Massively addictive amounts of caffeine
