When you vote why don't they just say something like this will raise your taxes for this and over here won't. Wouldn't it be simpler?

I'd be fine with my taxes being raised to support schools, public transportation, affordable housing, social programs, and other things that support an overall healthier community. I don't want my taxes raised to increase policing, subsidize luxury housing, or develop car-centric infrastructure.

No. Not everything that you vote for raises taxes.

Not all Taxes are income tax.

People pay different amounts of taxes.

Taxes are just one of the thousands of issues that are considered when voting.

Because not everyone's taxes are the same.

Both politics and taxes are complex topics. Many promises made during elections do not crystallize into real plans, it is always a give-and-take, politics is always a case of negotiation. On top of that many politicians simply lie, to lure in the voters (Trump comes to mind).

The US already has huge issues with understanding what you're voting for. Why would you simplify it even further? You need to do the opposite if you want a healthy democracy. Make sure people are properly informed about what they're voting for.

Taxes change regardless who is in power.
