In 2020, Senator Patrick Brazeau quit drinking following tumultuous years that included a suicide attempt and a colon cancer diagnosis, and started to educate himself about the harms of alcohol.
“I was among the 75% of Canadians unaware at that time of the direct causal link between alcohol consumption and seven fatal cancers,” said Brazeau.
This realization prompted him to introduce legislation in the Senate that would require alcohol producers to place cancer warning labels on their products.
The bill seemed headed toward a final vote this spring and a path to the House of Commons. Then in June, it was unexpectedly adjourned.

I can only guess.
Maybe industry pressure.
Maybe because people who drink won't change their behavior based on the label.

For context.. I'm a therapist in an addiction agency. I promise warning labels aren't going to help these people, or the vast majority of drinkers who need but aren't getting this help.

It into detail about lobbying and threats of litigation put forth by alcohol industries. It also states a trial study where health warning labels resulted in decreased consumption.

And there's really no one pretending that drinking is anything but extremely unhealthy. Even the whole "one glass of red wine is good for you" is usually dismissed.
The difference between drinking and smoking when it comes to warning labels, is that smoking pretty much exclusively causes long term health issues, while just about everyone who drinks has over done it at least once. It's really hard to pretend drinking isn't terrible for you when you feel like death the next morning.

Yeah i dont even like calling it a drug because it's not some specialized chemical that targets cell receptors, it's a polar solvent with widespread industrial usage that permeates every cell membrane in your body and poisons every cell it touches. It's only function in biology is waste, there's zero medicinal uses for it. (Except as part of a tapering program because it's one of the only "drugs" that can cause death from withdrawal symptoms.)
