Its really fuckin funny to me that dad is a 100% serious normal man except for just constantly bullshitting every single answer to anything hes ever asked

Just like completely fabricating an alternate nonsense reality for his like 8 year old child

On another hand, I suppose that when Calvin finds out the truth, this teaches him how to critically think, hah.

It builds character…

Made funnier by the comic showing that he’s a patent lawyer.

Makes me wonder if his job was in sales or politics

He's a patent clerk, which is alluded to in a couple of comics. Watterson thought it would be funnier when the joke is specific, and gave him the same job as his own father. Write what you know.

Patent lawyer, and also an avid cyclist.

I love the way Calvin pokes a big hole in Dad's story there at the end and suddenly it's "Welp, time for bed"...

Did Calvin grow up to be a flat earther?

OddBob212@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 28d

Now I'm trying to imagine the stories he told his kids when he grew up.

Thanks for the laugh! 🥹

We stuck the comics with Calvin's dad's bullshit on the kitchen cupboards because my dad did (does?) the exact same thing!
