I hadn't made homemade pizza in a while. One edge got a little too done, but overall it was pretty good.
Premade dough from the supermarket, second proof for about 4 hours. Minimalist sauce: San Marzano tomatoes, EVOO, oregano, garlic, a little hot sauce. Three cheese blend, pepperoni, shrooms, fresh basil from my garden. A few minutes on the pizza steel and Bob's your uncle.

Finally, some good fucking food. People post the worst looking shit here, but it seems like it's a photography problem more than anything.

I'm assuming they should bring beer. Duff beer.

Not 123 fake street?

Had to look up EVOO since I never heard that abbreviation and the results were all for a fast casual restaurant. "Y'all put a whole restaurant on this pizza? :O"
Then I saw the shopping links for Extra Virgin Olive Oil and put 2 and 2 together. 🤣

It's a Food Network thing, I think. Around 2010 I want to say.

Those burnt crusties are my favorite

A little too dark for me but I'd probably still smash that.

I made French bread pizza yesterday. Wish it looked half this good. Tasted good though so that's what matters lol.

I'm gonna make one tomorrow I've been toying with the idea of... maybe you all can give me some feedback.
For the sauce, instead of a traditional pizza sauce I want to use a thin spread of muhammara. Then, I want to put peppers, mushrooms, and onions, along with a healthy dose of feta cheese.
Interested in feed back if anyone has any!

Long as the sauce doesn't tend to separate, that should work. Man, if you had some shawarma to go on that.
Big_Boss_77@fedinsfw.app · 1 pts · 26d
Yeah, that would be pretty awesome. You're right, it does need a protein, shawarma could he a solid choice

That looks like a tasty idea; my only add (and you might already be doing this) is to pre-cook your mushrooms, just to get them dried out. I do this with both fresh and canned mushrooms if they are going on a pizza.
Big_Boss_77@fedinsfw.app · 1 pts · 26d
If i do fresh, I do...canned I'm usually in a hurry and just drain for a while first. Should try it with canned too.
f1error@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 26d
Canned still hold moisture. More than you'd think. Cook that water off, and don't have a slimy pizza.

Pizza steel, awesome.
Fresh oregano, check. Also maybe try rocket / arugala sometime. It pairs especially well with certain cheeses, like goat.

My wife talked me into spending the money for a steel, and it's upped my pizza game to no end.
JohnnyEnzyme@piefed.social · 1 pts · 26d
Yup. The science is well-documented and sound. Fast heat-flow, baby.
I'm in the middle of a pizza steel project myself.

I love pepperoni and mushrooms, but not so sure about both of them together. But I’d put mushroom with bacon, so how was it?
BananaPeal@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 25d
Pepperoni and mushroom is the best. It's my all time favorite!
SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 25d
The all time best combo.
