I get why legalese has to be legalese but also....

(Multiple videos of ICE executing United States Citizens)

"Alleged abuses"

I think these outlets are just too scared to get punished.

Everybody keeps playing by the rules when we see time and time again that the current administration doesnt care

It's like constantly hitting a brick wall. The rules are for everybody else, they are on a totally different system... hypocrisy doesnt matter for anyone else, they dont care if the law applies... What now?

Every time they get a story exactly right or better, the payoff is minimal. If they get one thing wrong, they're in for a ton of headache and financial loss. That's what they're competing with

When I read ”alleged”… my heart to my toes and as far as I can tell, it’s still sinking.

THEY ARE NOT FUCKING ALLEGED

BadmanDan@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 16d (3 replies)

Not gonna work. Only the executive branch can stop ICE at this point.

Corvidae@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 16d (2 replies)

Voters can stop the executive branch.

Let's hope so

BadmanDan@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 15d

lol, you have faith in the voters?

Really feeling like the ACLU is a day late and a dollar short. Though tbh, I’ve felt that way about them since I found out they support citizens united (at which point I refused to give them any more money).

Abyssian@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 15d

That will do the trick. There's got to be some level of court orders for ice to stop or start doing a thing where they can no longer manage to ignore them.
