Who doesn't want a gigantic banana to play their vinyls? Plays 33 and 45 rpm records in any position, and comes with a carrying strap as shown in the inset.
Guessing here, but looks to me like the white thing holds the record in place. Otherwise, the record might fall off in some positions.

The song was about vibrators. This is a rather large one.

This is as portable as vinyl record players have ever gotten. You can buy this today for $200
Here's a TechMoan video about it: https://youtu.be/b48XD9P8klM

I have one and love it. Can only use it upright though. That must be banana technology lost to time.

Adjusted for inflation the banana player cost about $300

Oh wow. One apparently sold on ebay for $1500!
TranquilTurbulence@lemmy.zip · 15 pts · 24d
That’s a lot of money, even without the factorial.

Ha! Now I'm curious. It overflowed my calculator app, but if my web query is right, that's around 4 x 10^2567.
TranquilTurbulence@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 23d
😂 There’s not enough money in the universe to cover that bill.

It's like something dreamt up by a record company:
"How can we sell more records?"
Shitty engineer: "Let's make a portable record player that even works upside down. This will require a massive spring on the tone arm, which will wear down both needles and records at a... record pace!"

You could almost say... they went bananas. But it took a bunch of them to come up with that idea.
