It is seriously messed up that this is the first I've heard about it

WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 22d

It's also only this bad because of the Musk/DOGE/pedophiles crimes. Their illegal destruction of USAID etc will kill millions by 2028, so they're already up there with some of the worst mass murderers in history.

You know how Mao killed millions in China? Yeah, most of those deaths were from famine caused by ignorance and incompetence; not the greed and psychopathy of a bunch of nazis...

Maybe if they weren't so dumb in the Congo, it wouldn't be.

Touch dead bodies=contract Ebola.

But they refuse to stop touching their dead who pass away from Ebola. To the point of burning down hospitals if they won't give dead bodies back to them so they can be fondled.

So yeah. It's of their own making. No one wants to go there and even try to help because too many people there are too ignorant and refuse to learn anything. Doctors without borders don't want to go places they get attacked at.

No. Blaming it on people being “dumb” is lazy and wrong, and it makes you a fucking asshole.

Yes, touching Ebola corpses spreads it hard. Traditional burials with washing/kissing the body have fueled outbreaks, including the current one in DRC. Families have stormed clinics and attacked burial teams to get bodies back. That part is real.

But it’s not because they’re too stupid to learn. It’s grief + culture + deep distrust. Proper burial rites are a sacred duty to the dead and ancestors. Many would rather risk infection than skip that. Decades of war, massacres, neglected health systems, and outsiders showing up only for Ebola (while malaria and violence keep killing people) breed conspiracy theories that the response is fake, for profit, or killing patients. High death rates in treatment centers make people think “you go in, you die.”

MSF and Red Cross do go there. Local volunteers risk their lives doing safe burials. Attacks force temporary pullbacks for security, not because the whole population is unworthy.

The transmission risk is real. The “their are too ignorant" take is not. Reevaluate your life.

You're trying to be PC, but what you're explaining is how they are being dumb.

They have spent years watching it spread. Had it explained multiple times that touching the deceased spreads it. Seen it happen.

Yet still don't change their ways. That is pretty much the definition of stupidity. No understanding of cause and effect, with an unwillingness to learn. That's stupid. You don't have to be nice about everything and spare feelings all the time because you're scared to look hateful or whatever. But if you see people walk up to the face stabbing machine and get stabbed in the face, but then people still keep walking up to it thinking it won't happen to them, even when the big words on the wall say don't walk up here or you'll get stabbed in the face; they're dumb.

The mental gymnastics to be this bigoted is exhausting. The reality is you're posting this here, anonymously, because you know it's wrong, racist, and you don't want to be held accountable for it. You're a coward who feels safe to attack people who are suffering and because you don't have the ability to show even an ounce of compassion to others. It's sociopathic behaviour.

You seem awful full of yourself to presume what I say or don't say when not anonymous. You've done nothing but spatter off into accusations and name calling.... Anonymously. A child who's butt hurt because an anonymous person on the Internet thinks he's a pretentious idiot.

Okay racist.

They never did presume anything like that.

You've done nothing but spatter off into accusations and name calling.... Anonymously

The tolerant left, AMIRITE?????

A child who's butt hurt because an anonymous person on the Internet thinks he's a pretentious idiot

Nah, that's not the reason we're butt hurt.. Think again, racist fuck.

I don't think they're attacking anyone. Who's being attacked?

hanrahan@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 20d

maybe but ignorance more so.

but that's all of humanity though yeah ?, be it the measles epidemics in the evangelical US (just vaccinate ffs), the entire developed world completely ignoring climate change (80% of emissions from the richest 20%) which will lead to the collapse of civilization (we've known this for 50 years or so, stop emitting CO2e), the stupidity of religion itself and on and on. That's what, 90% of us ? so no real behavioural difference here.

Just waiting to see the headlines after this gets loose in the US and the federal government decides it's "God's Plan" whether or not the people make it through, instead of spending money to address it.
