"Sarcasm for the slow ones" is a good description of every Faux News "comedy" show.

Cool. I don't have kids, but I'm not the kind of asshole who doesn't care about other people.

Eventually we'll all get old and if there's no generation keeping the lights on we all suffer.

PostProcess@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 2d

Aren't you tired of all the winning in NYC? /s

VitoRobles@lemmy.today · 5 pts · 2d

Why would you make it free instead of charging $3k a month like every other city? It's called FREEDOM.

Tldr would be great.

Why not just read the article? It's pretty short.

Summary:

NYC has childcare vouchers for people earning less than 85% of the median income (which works out to <114k/yr for a family of 4). Depending on how much lower than that amount they make, it can cost anywhere from $0/wk to $15/wk.

Mamdani got rid of the copay entirely. Now it's free for anyone that qualifies for the voucher.

There are about 100k families using this service, but only ~22k paid a copay based on their income.

This change will cost the city ~$5.2M.

Didya miss the post title?

patruelis@lemmy.world · -11 pts · 3d (6 replies)

Is that the tldr?

I'm sure there a bit more to it though

dmtalon@infosec.pub · 23 pts · 3d (1 reply)

I find it fascinating you're interested enough to engage twice here, but won't just read the article?

patruelis@lemmy.world · -10 pts · 3d

Indeed

WhoIzDisIz@lemmy.today · 6 pts · 3d (1 reply)

There almost always is. If you're looking for some particular info, you need to be more specific about what you want. The article is a bit wide-ranging.

watson387@sopuli.xyz · 6 pts · 3d

Or they could just r3ad the fucking article...

Tldr on what's there?

SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world · -28 pts · 3d (6 replies)

Where does he find early childhood educators willing to work for free?

wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz · 24 pts · 2d

It says the parents don't have to pay, not the educators don't get paid. There's such a thing called *public funding*

NYC has enough rich people to afford this sort of thing now that their luxury homes no longer get tax exemptions.

GreyEyedGhost@piefed.ca · 6 pts · 2d (4 replies)

Where does it say it's free?

SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world · -7 pts · 2d (3 replies)

The headline.

GreyEyedGhost@piefed.ca · 15 pts · 2d

I guess when you read the sentence, "I always wear socks when I'm wearing shoes," your immediate thought is, "You wear socks in the shower?" After all, I clearly said I always wear socks, right?

If this is trolling, it is absolutely bottom tier. If this is a reading comprehension issue, it is also bottom tier.

Plastic_Ramses@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 2d

I cant tell if youre joking or have poor reading comprehension.

Bakkoda@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2d

So you stopped reading after the word free. Got it.
