I found it just by poking around in the source. The alt text isn't easy to find normally, you'd only see it if the image wasn't loading. Here's what the HTML looks like for this strip:
You can get at it with dev tools, right click on the image and "Inspect"

Alt text usually shows up when you hover the mouse over an image. Not sure if it works with mobile browsers, due to lack of cursor by default

Sure, but that only shows one of the two captions found above. In this case it's labelled as title text here. Or are you seeing both on a cursor hover?
