[the Manhattan DA] office said it was prepared to litigate the double jeopardy motion and remains “committed to seeking justice for Mr. Thompson and his family.”
if that were true, they would be seizing their assets and paying back the families of all the people he killed with denied claims
And? He's looking at 24 to 30 years in prison on the guilty plea already. The post is hoping for him to get off because of double jeopardy and has lots of up votes on a statement that is completely erroneous.
You'll almost never see federal murder charges unless the victim is a federal politician or judge. And he wasn’t charged with murder federally in this case either.
The charges he pleaded guilty to carry up to a life sentence each already.

It would make me laugh so fucking hard if he somehow gets away with this because of double jeopardy.

All double jeopardy would do is prevent the state charges. Zero impact on the federal he just pleaded guilty to.

I don't believe he plead guilty to the actual federal murder charges, they were other charges

Where does this post say it hopes to get him completely off? I just see it talking about double jeopardy

That would be the part where it says "gets away with this".

Oh you mean the parent comment, not the post. Yeah, a commenter is wrong, breaking news, more at 11.

It may takes decades, but eventually, a Gen Z president will pardon him. Luigi knows this.
