But yeah, a villanelle is kind of like pastry. There's a certain beauty in the act of craftsmanship itself because they are rather hard to pull off. Even if you get the structure right, it can come off bland and robotic if you aren't careful. But when it works, ah there's just nothing like it!

While I do appreciate modern free form poetry too when it's done well, there is also beauty in structure and pattern.

I love someone who can be structured in poetry and really succeed at it. It's very disciplined.
Alternately I mostly hate when poets only use lower case other than e.e. cummings, I think it's a lazy way to make an effect 99% of the time.
