Fell asleep on the couch last night, because the cat curled up on me.

Woke up, and he was snuggled in next to me, resting his little head on my knees. I can't believe how much I love him.

He turns 6 next month, I'll have to think of a delicious treat for him lol

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 9d (2 replies)

How gorgeous are moments like that? Aw! I think it's in Alfie's DNA to just not snuggle without scratching, licking or biting. It drives me crazy. I've seen him curl up on Boyo's lap twice without being a pain, otherwise he's just so much!

Catfish@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 9d (1 reply)

LittleOne is the same, always licking and kneading. If he could just keep the pointy bits put away when making biscuits please?!

StudChud@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 8d

Aw I just put up with the pain, it's such a joy having an affectionate cat.

I do need to trim his claws though, they're quite long and he doesn't really scratch his posts or whatever. I need get a proper cat claw nail clipper thing, I've been using big sized human ones or nail scissors, which tend to fray the claw a bit.

I got another one from โ€œMarkโ€ today. Itโ€™s my favourite magnet. Mark is absolutely winning at life. He is crushing the plumbing world and loving every minute.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d

Mark has had a few tokes on the old tradies flute before that photo was taken.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d

Mark's happy he's taking your cash by using a plunger.

Pilk@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d (2 replies)

That man could not look any happier with that plunger in his hands.

useless_modern_god@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d (1 reply)

Right? Mark is..passionate.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d

he offers a senior's discount as well ๐Ÿ˜บ

and that extra 10% is always welcome

Some CBD art.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 8d (1 reply)

Oh that's awesome!! What event is this?!

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 8d

Now or Never. We went to Time Remaining by Chunky Move dance studio, at the town hall. It was an okay show, not great. I felt it would've been a better 30 minute show than 50. Contemporary dance can get pretty contemporary at time.

Alamutjones@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 9d (5 replies)

Good morning. I'm doing annual compliance training

Taleya@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d (1 reply)

Is it actual training, or the ol' " do you retain knowledge that was given to you five seconds earlier that will immediately fly out of your head once a new day dawns and be useless in a real life situation? Jolly good, we'll tick the box" deal?

Alamutjones@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d

Ticky ticky boxes

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d (2 replies)

Compliance with what?

Alamutjones@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d (1 reply)

I work for an insurance company. I see a lot of sensitive info about people. Full names, addresses, bank info, several sensitive diagnoses because it's health insurance...

Yearly compliance = do I remember my legal obligations in handling this info correctly so we don't have huge privacy breaches? Which memory hole do I shove it down when I'm done?

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d

I think the appropriate memory hole would be the circular filing cabinet. Seriously, if your current policy/procedures are solid, this is just a reminder not to be stupid or careless. An exercise in ticking boxes to be sure, but when it matters it REALLY matters.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 9d (7 replies)

old people talk

so instead of panadol for my hand arthritis, which gives me headaches and makes me itchy, i'm trying nurofen

or maybe I can just put up with the mild ache

Eagle@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d

Even though it doesn't contain dairy, paracetamol for some reason can be a cause of concern for those with dairy allergies. They are processed differently in the body, so it sort of doesn't make sense, but people be peopling and not fitting in boxes. Be careful of your gut with nurofen and other anti inflammatory meds. And they will affect your blood clotting with long term use.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d

Maybe diclofenac?

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d (2 replies)

Is aspirin a possibility? Yes it's a blood thinner, and can trigger gut issues, but it IS an effective painkiller. Not very fashionable atm though.
Paracetamol scares me - the gap between an effective dose and a dose that kills your kidneys is quite small.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d (1 reply)

I love aspirin but I bruise so easily

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d

That's a problem.

SituationCake@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d

Nurofen is anti inflammatory and Panadol is only a painkiller, so it might work better anyway.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d

check out celebrex. It's like ibuprofen but without the gut skinning

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 9d (4 replies)

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 9d (10 replies)

I have another dog story. YL went outside to the bins and all 4 dogs followed. Then when it was time to go back inside she found the door was locked and the dogs were already inside via the doggy door.

They were SUPER excited to see her head pop through that flap. There was licking, kisses, and jumping the entire time she crawled back through. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Taleya@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d (1 reply)

ONE OF US!! ONE OF US!!

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d

That's exactly what I said to her ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d

Something similar happened to me many moons ago when I was a lot more flexible - only 1 dog (mine) though. He was most perplexed that I was using HIS door.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d (1 reply)

That's absolutely gold! I love they were excited for her though!

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d

She's one of them now. She has found her tribe.

useless_modern_god@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d (4 replies)

So YL does house/pet sitting as a side gig?

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d (3 replies)

Yes because it fits around her uni studies.

useless_modern_god@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d (2 replies)

Oh cool. I might require her services in Jan/Feb next year. Is Heidelberg too far you reckon?

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d (1 reply)

I don't know. I'll dm you later on how you can contact her.

useless_modern_god@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d

Ok thanks

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 9d (19 replies)

Something has come up on the Guys podcast again that I still can't believe is a thing:

Do you use the Cut Up method or Chop And Eat As You Go when eating food?

Apparently this causes a bit of culture shock amongst Americans, who like to cut all their food up at once then just eat it with a fork. Whereas Chop And Eat As You Go (as described by the OP they were reading from) is some weird European way of eating.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d (1 reply)

People actually do that? So you can eat like a toddler? Wtf? I do that for my dog because he sometimes forgets to chew.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d

That was the joke the other host that's Canadian made. He said "I never do that, oh wait, yes I do, when I'm cutting up food for my child." They had a guest on this week who said she cuts all her food up at once as well.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d

I guess I use a hybrid version. It's as you go for the first part of the meal, then towards the end I'll start focussing on making sure that everything is divided up into portions to make sure there is a bit of everything to go into each bite. I'm the opposite of the people who want all their food segregated and eaten separately, I want all meal components to have equal representation throughout the meal.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d

as you go

I am a grown ass adult, not some child

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d (2 replies)

As you go. Food would cool down more quickly if all cut at first.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d (1 reply)

This was a point raised as well, especially for something like steak. You want it hot and to hold as much juice as possible

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d

I actually do cut up my steak, in my head it was to keep it from overcooking in its own heat, even after the resting period.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d (1 reply)

Few meals I make require cut as you go. For those that do, if I'm eating with somebody I do so. I'm alone and faffing about on my phone the chop it all up heathanism comes into play.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d

I get it. Those moments where you're like, "Ugh, I wanna be on my phone but I've gotta Chop And Eat As I Go"

useless_modern_god@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d (4 replies)

I assume youโ€™re talking mainly about steak. I didnโ€™t know it was a thing until the last 3-5 years I started noticing steaks on the various food subreddits that were all cut up before serving.

It makes sense if itโ€™s a big sub-primal cut that is shared amongst the table but other than that I would cut as I go.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d (3 replies)

By the sound of it, it's everything. Your average American might sit down to a parma and chips and cut it all up into little strips first, then discard the knife and just eat with the fork

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d (1 reply)

parma and chips

Yanks do parma w/ spaghetti.. for some odd reason.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 8d

Could that be a Jollibee thing, or one of the other Filipino restaurants? I heard Filipinos like to do spaghetti with everything

SituationCake@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d

Savages.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 9d (3 replies)

You know those fucking weirdos who have to have a little bit everything in each mouthful?

Thats me.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d

I get that and I'm a bit like that myself. It was all made to go together so it might as well be enjoyed that way

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d (1 reply)

Yeah, but do you cut a bit each time or get it all cut up and ready?

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 9d

Cut a bit each time

Taleya@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 8d

Today's overnight oats were particularly delicious. Although I put so much fruit in them I'm starting to think I should refer to it as fruit salad with oats.

Last time I logged into insta my feed was anti Zionist.

Today after 2 months of not logging in its a bunch of sad loser cunts complaining about women.

All the anti Zionist pages I followed are no longer in my feed.

I've never followed these pathetic incel cunts. So I guess this is social media manipulation.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d

The work account follows 200 people and has been around for years. If you scroll the feed you start getting those generic movie fact posts about 3 images in. Shit is cooked

SituationCake@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 9d

I remember reading about a researcher that created fake insta accounts posing as a teenage boys to see what turns up, and the incel stuff showed up within 5min of scrolling. The social media giants know what keeps users engaged in each demographic. I reckon donโ€™t engage with the posts and it will go away as the algorithm figures out it hasnโ€™t caught you. Scary to know what other users are seeing though.
