And Roberts said "on it".

But Biden couldn't pay off student loans because...?

Because it might actually improve someone’s life, and not just make insanely wealthy people more insanely wealthy.

Because he's part of the reason they're not dischargeable in bankruptcy in the first place.
stoly@lemmy.world · -5 pts · 14d
Because he’s not progressive and came up with an insanely complex idea that failed rather than exercise the power given to the president by Congress to forgive any and all student loans at will.
Zaktor@sopuli.xyz · 13 pts · 14d
No, he did try to do that. He just set the payment point super far in the future so the Supreme Court had plenty of time to block it. Because they're also just conservative tools who will rule based on their personal political preferences rather than the law.
He didn't do it well, but Biden (presumably after considerable lobbying by progressives) did at least try to exercise that power that was given to him explicitly by law. The SC just made up a new doctrine to say "the text of the law doesn't matter if we feel like it".

Of course. Roberts has to do what his real employers (the ones paying the big bribes) want.

Trump needs it to be complete before the 2028 election. That's his bunker and he will hole up there, forcing us to extract him.

I'd be OK with just putting concrete around the entrance/exits instead.
Zombiepirate@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 14d
Like Chernobyl. I love it.
Imagine the smell when archaeologists excavate in a thousand years.
watson387@sopuli.xyz · 8 pts · 14d
Or seal the entries/exits and grout the entire bunker.
FaceDeer@fedia.io · 2 pts · 14d
Flip the switch from "Ballroom" to "Mausoleum".

That can be engraved in the building I heard

Sealing the air vents also helps.

Roberts is a fucking fascist douche and an absolute disgrace to the U.S. and democracy.
Mulligrubs@lemmy.world · 22 pts · 14d
Trump's never kept a project under budget, and now it's government contractors...
$3 billion. At least.

We should strongly consider letting die violently a few SCOTUS once the admin changes.
Zombiepirate@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 14d
Hell, if Trump ordered it Roberts would sign off on it.

That no ballroom...
minorkeys@sh.itjust.works · 15 pts · 14d
"For now" meaning until it's complete and therefore can't be stopped anymore.
RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 13d
Do you think it'll ever be complete?
SabinStargem@lemmy.today · 11 pts · 14d
I hope to see most of this "court" on the gallows, live. They are traitors.
Eh_I@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 14d
If it survives it will be as a museum for the victims. He'll probably have to reichstag it at some point though.
melsaskca@lemmy.ca · 8 pts · 14d
The Supreme Court is "allowing" it? They've been paid off or blackmailed into doing a degenerates bidding. "Allow" indeed.
RagingRobot@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 14d
It needs to keep looking like this during the next presidential election
finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 14d
Yet they haven't even started on the 3-sided shack where Uncle Cletus whittles his toenails for $500 per photo. You just know it's Biden's fault.
