3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I killed my tub of Midnight Stag today. That is due to the heavy tub loads that the silk tallow base requires. I have a spare tub that I will continue with tomorrow.

Do you have a verdict on whether you prefer the CF silk tallow or regular base?

gcgallant@wetshav.ing · 2 pts · 10d

I definitely prefer the silk tallow base. It’s a unique in my experience. I’m sure it’s not for everyone, but I like it a lot.

  • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations - w/AP Shave Co. Cashmere 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Koraat 15/16 Full Hollow - Sub Exclusive 'Moarteen' (9)
  • Lather: The Body Shop - Maca Root & Aloe - Cream
  • Post Shave: Pinaud - Clubman Special Reserve - Aftershave

Back to the cream to do more important science on "why are my shaves not great?".

This shave was pretty good! I've been stropping 70x so I think that's helping the edge actually improved. Also, I focused on a shallower angle today. It seems I have to yet again learn that shallow is best.

I also did bad science by changing the brush. Instead of the boar brush that I've been using, I used a synthetic. The lather was visibly nicer, but that doesn't mean it performed any better.

Overall, I give the cream a pass, and instead blame my bad shaves on 1) technique and 2) needing to strop the blade more.
