I remember when I saw news like this and proudly thought, "Maybe US spies messed up their tech, or the Russian techs self-sabotaged out of solidarity with the USA and Freedom"

This is going to be a big problem regardless of who's birds are up there. Say there are 100k LEO birds and they lose comms on 1/10 of 1% is 100 birds out of control at 17000 mph.

They smash into other birds making more debris pushing the Kessler Effect faster. They re-enter over populated areas as they cant drop them in the Pacific like they normally do.

And 100k is a small number, I'm pretty sure SpaceX alone wants 50k+ just for their constellation. Correction SpaceX has authorization for 100k birds... And they are good at flying them/high quality satellites. What happens when others with lower quality birds starts trying to match those numbers?
