Newly obtained documents indicate that the US health secretary, Robert F Kennedy Jr, lied during two congressional hearings last year, when he told lawmakers who held the key to his confirmation that a 2019 visit to Samoa had “nothing to do with vaccines”.
Letters obtained by the Guardian and the Associated Press contradict that testimony. In one he wrote to the Samoan prime minister before the trip, Kennedy explicitly said he wanted to study the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine in the Pacific island nation. In it, he used the words “vaccine” or “vaccination” eight times.

And there will be no consequences

If the Democratic party would stop letting criminal behavior by politicians slide, he'd be vulnerable to prosecution in 2029 for this.
The Democratic party is doomed if they continue to let this sort of asymmetrical political warfare continue.

Already doomed. Half of the constituents are maga-lite

Not half of the constituents, no, but the vast majority of the candidates.
That's why they keep losing eminently winnable elections against incompetent and insufferable demagogues: their own base wants something MUCH better than what they're offering and they keep refusing to listen and adapt accordingly.

That sounds better. Thanks

Remind me who's in charge of DoJ again?

So what do you think "the Democrats" should or even could do to prosecute federal crimes right now when DoJ is in Trump's pocket?

Is it 2029?
Triumph@fedia.io · -3 pts · 2d
Are we blaming "the Democrats" for future events now?

Did I hallucinate the Obama and Biden administrations? This is a pattern of behavior.

I think you got wrapped around the axel here. I said Kennedy would be vulnerable for prosecution in 2029. This is 2026. The implication is that in 2029 the new president takes over and there will be a new AG. The implication is also that it will be a Democrat as president.
He's not vulnerable now because the current attorney general is also Trump's personal criminal defense lawyer and won't be prosecuting anyone in the administration. So that means we have to wait until there is a Democrat as president. The earliest that will happen is in January of 2029(after the 2028 election).
Look through the thread again. Do you understand now?

If Republicans lose the majority in House and Senate in November, this will be grounds for impeaching Kennedy.
Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 1d
It IS grounds for impeachment regardless of whether or not anyone actually impeaches him.
I wouldn't count on the Dem leadership to hold the members of the Trump kakistocracy responsible for their many crimes, though. The last time they were in control illustrated that very well.

Idk about you, but I would be SCARED of the magnitude of the denunciation coming. Who among us could survive the opinion articles? The congressional questioning? This might even get entered in the Congressional Record 😱
