Far-right British provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported after his immigration arrest in US

British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported back to the United Kingdom after his arrest by American immigration authorities, U.S. officials said Saturday.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said Yiannopoulos was returned to his home country on Friday after being accused of overstaying after entering the U.S. legally in May 2019. A immigration judge had issued a final order of removal on July 22 after he failed to show up for an immigration hearing, a Homeland Security spokesperson said.

Yiannopoulos was arrested Thursday at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Louisiana and detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

I guess he gets sent to his home country (that won't murder him) because he's white.

If you are non-white, you get kidnapped and sent to your home country even if (or probably because) they will likely murder you, or if your home country may not murder you, maybe the destination gets swapped to a country that will imprison you in horrific circumstances even though you have zero ties to that country.

as much as I disparage and loathe Milo; he's not been accused of this? you'd think they'd detain him if there were credible accusations?

The rightwing commentator’s latest trouble stems from his appearance on an internet livestream last year, during which he said that relationships between adult men and teenage boys can be beneficial.

In the clip, Yiannopoulos said the age of consent was “not this black-and-white thing” and that relationships “between younger boys and older men … can be hugely positive experiences”.

He went on to suggest that sex between “younger boys” and older men could be a “coming-of-age relationship … in which those older men help those younger boys discover who they are”.

The comments drew widespread condemnation. The American Conservative Union rescinded his invitation to speak at its annual CPac conference while Simon & Schuster’s conservative imprint, Threshold Editions, cancelled publication of his upcoming book, Dangerous.

Amid reports that some Breitbart employees had threatened to leave if Yiannopoulos was not fired, Breitbart editor-in-chief Alex Marlow commented that his editor’s comments were “not defensible”.

Unless he can get special treatment this asshole won't be able to re-enter the US for at least 5, and more likely 10 years. I'm guessing his promoters won't be willing to pay him if he's just another British asshole in Britain. I wonder what he'll end up doing for cash?

I'm not sure he's really comparable to the typical ICE case. Obviously if you're fighting the deportation, you'll be in the camps for months. But my understanding is that people in there are under constant pressure to sign paperwork agreeing to a rapid deportation. They get paperwork shoved in their face in a language they can't read and are told to sign it. ICE agents actively try and trick immigrants into signing away their rights, thus allowing their rapid deportation.

Ultimately, all this is being run by racists who want as many brown people out of the country as fast as possible. They don't just want to keep millions of brown people in cages for the fun of it; they want to deport millions of brown people. And as long as we're not in full "extermination camp" territory yet, achieving that goal means moving people through the system as fast as possible. Stephen Miller's aims are advanced by brown people sitting in plane seats, not brown people sitting in cages.

I remember a story from awhile back about a court case involving an immigrant that was voluntarily seeking deportation, but was still being held by ICE. But the article treated it as a surprising oddity. It was such a notable occurrence that it was the exception that proved the rule. As far as I know, generally, if you're willing to sign away your rights to appear in immigration court, you can get out of the system pretty quickly by opting for voluntary deportation. That's almost certainly what Milo did.

None of this to excuse any of ICE's crimes. But as I understand it, if detained immigrants are willing to sign away their rights to fight the deportation, they can move through the system fairly quickly. Again, it does the racists no good to prevent the people they hate from leaving.

I think they are holding them for different reasons. They keep deporting planes full of people to different countries.
