The first one I saw was at a Shakey's Pizza. The kids would run their hands in front of the projector to make colored shadows on the screen. I couldn't find a video showing this effect on a tv, because YT tech reviewers have no sense of whimsy, I guess. Here's a video showing a similar effect:

We had that TV in the 80's, you had to sit almost directly in front or the video would be all washed out.
