I happen to have polarized sunglasses, and they're a bit different than regular sunglasses.
Polarized sunglasses offer even better benefits than regular sunglasses. The polarized factor helps eliminate the glare off the distant road or the glare off the water while fishing.
Polarized sunglasses are readily available from many brands, even the cheap $10 ones can be polarized sometimes. An easy way to check: hold them in front of your phone's screen, looking through the glasses rotate the phone from portrait to landscape (using your hand, not the settings, might have to rotate through 180 degrees, not just 90). If the brightness changes, then the glasses are polarized. This works because the light from a phone screen is also polarized. The lenses in the glasses may have different polarization orientations, so they might not go dark at the same time. That's OK, they will still work as polarized glasses.
You are both right and wrong at the same time. 180⁰ polarized lenses are the same as 0⁰ polarized lenses. 90⁰ or 270⁰ is where it blacks out when looking at an LCD screen. All these things are standardized. It's not just willy nilly.
The engineers behind polarization have already optimised the angles to favor blocking sun glare, be useful while watching television, and also even so much as looking at the time on your wristwatch.
I wasn't talking about the angle of the polarization. I was referring to the angle, between the display and lens angle of polarization. Yes, they need to be perpendicular.
I also like the effects of polarized sunglasses. One thing I noticed, is that my phone's current screen protector film creates a rainbow effect, looking through the glasses. My previous phone must have used a different material because it didn't do that. I've seen the same with certain street sign also, I believe it was. Just a little annoying, and I could probably use a different screen protector.

Kodak makes eyeglasses lenses and they're not too bad. Bullshit expensive but I got a 60% deal one time and their water resistant is sweat resistant.
