I guess this might be good enough to have some sort of idea of what you're pointing at. E-ink has gotten pretty good - here's a brief demonstration of video shown on a 60 Hz e-ink monitor.
Colour representation is probably going to be less than great, but in return it'll be great for taking pictures in direct sunlight.
