A local landmark was also renamed by the Council.
The next 3 council meetings had so many residents protesting and objecting to the new bylaws that they were reversed.
It's an attack on property rights (both real estate and chattel). In a world where antitrust law is dead and governments everywhere have been fully regulatory-captured by megacorps and cartels, resisting their rentiership is considered tantamount to theft.
There is this theory and also the theory that car dealers were lobbying to get people to take their vehicles to dealers to service.
While this makes no sense, (someone who changes their own oil in their garage isn’t the type of person who would ever get a dealer service), I have heard several Dealer Service managers praise the bylaw and criticise and censure their employees who do backyarders in their own time.
It says in the article, but essentially, in order to file for the voting block to go to the courts it was required to name someone, so that someone was the residence.

These fucking cockscum that rule over us are in for a rude awakening on these datacenters. We all hate tham, and no one supports what they are puportedly to do.
But our rulers don't think votes will continue to matter if they have the backing of their party. Which is true generally and will continue to be so, until it's not.
The right is not down on data centers by the way. We have overwhelming support already if we had a leader to unite the people on it.
