I dunno. It looks like they will test their democratic power transfer in November. So either they are very fucked (and the rest of the world too), or they'll just unfuck themselves a bit. We will only really know when it happens.
I really hope that every civilian who actually cares about this country will be on their feet during the midterms, making sure voters don't get spooked away by far right militas and protecting peoples right to vote. This is actually the time and place to make use of your second amendment - protect those polling stations with your lives, or your lives might be forfeit anyways if Trump starts the 1000-Year-Reich Pt. 2.
I don't think the USA has the pull they used to, other countries are increasingly viewing them as an unreliable ally. Both in terms of trade and defence.

Please don’t bring a gun to your polling precinct.

Not directly to the polling station, but people should expect MAGAS to arrive armed and with the intention of keeping "undesireables" away,
Telodzrum@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 12d
Fair enough, always be prepared, right?

I'm bringing one in my car though

Seems fine. Check your state’s laws for distance rules from polling places, though.

Too bad all the other governments are so beholden to our government that we'll drag everyone else down with us.

Other governments are still too deferential to the US for my taste. Hopefully that changes.
kibblebits@quokk.au · 6 pts · 12d
To an extent, but I really don’t think the US has the “forever grip” it thinks it has. No country ever has lasted forever.
irish_link@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 12d
Nor will it. I think this is the part where we lose our grip. On reality as well.

Let's hope the Trump administration goes for a '45 revival in the fuhrerbunker

Government: We have the screw worm outbreak under control!!!! Its isolated in the south!!
Government: Hey the outbreak in Ohio not a thing!!
Governmentt: Stops talking about screw worms*
Trump: Off topic were getting beef from a place I'd rather not say where though.(REAL BTW)
Government: Hey we need to recall like all the beef!!
When they stopped talking about screw worms I knew things were bad...

A worker is ending up in the ground beef and if they have bribe money the company won't even have to say nothing

Aren't most recalls voluntary to avoid class action lawsuits?
